Making Accounting Cool Ancora
One firmcityregioncountryservice at a time.
Ancora brings established Italian accounting firms into one group and rebuilds them on proprietary software. We are operators, not a fund: entrepreneurs who believe this is the decade accounting becomes software, and that whoever runs it becomes the financial operating system of Italian SMEs.
The model, in one picture
The platform firm joins
An established firm anchors each area: clients, team, trust already in place.
Attach add-ons
Nearby practices plug into the same platform and one central back office.
Regional expansion
Five platform firms, one playbook, compounding side by side.
National expansion
City by city, Italy comes onto the platform.
In parallel: the fintech platform
While the map fills, the product deepens on the same clients. The system of record becomes distribution:
From one firm in Milano to the fintech platform of Italian SMEs.
Italian accountants are retiring.
Their clients are not
The most fragmented accounting market in Europe is starting a decade-long generational handover: tens of thousands of small firms, each holding client relationships that last decades, and most with no successor. Whoever consolidates them owns the financial back office of Italian business.

Intelligence is becoming a commodity
For the first time in history, intelligence is a commodity
AI models now automate work that three years ago nobody would have called automatable: reading documents, applying rules, reconciling accounts, drafting filings. And the cost of that intelligence is collapsing toward zero.
Accounting is the perfect terrain
Few industries hand a model guard rails this defined: double-entry logic, tax codes, hard deadlines, documents digital since Italy's 2019 e-invoicing mandate. Inside that structure models operate exceptionally well, and roughly 80% of firm hours sit exactly there: rule-based work.
What is missing is the infrastructure
Models do not fail on intelligence: they fail on access, with client data scattered across legacy tools never built for them. The missing layer is the data infrastructure, the accounting software that lets models operate efficiently on top. That is the layer we build, inside our own firms.

Why we own the firms
Italian SMEs spend about €18B a year with their accountants, several euros for every euro of financial software. Selling software into 69,000 firms fails on fragmentation; selling straight to five million SMEs fails on switching aversion. So we do not sell software to the firm. We integrate it into the group.
Accounting is the gateway. Financial infrastructure is the endgame
Accounting has a privileged view over a company's entire financial life: every invoice, every payment, every balance passes through it first. Whoever runs the books sees the need before anyone else, with the trust already earned and the data already in hand.
On that view we build two families of products: tech products that move money and time, and financial products that provide capital. One trusted relationship, many products. Each firm that joins the group is distribution for everything we build next.
